The last present is the excellent pocket sized DAB radio the Ferguson FRG810D.
The player has a black rubberized finish, has a screen for viewing station information, 4 buttons and a clever mini joystick control for adjusting volume and selecting stations.
The other buttons are:-
Display:- control what info is diplayed on the screen.
Preset:- gives you easy access to your favorite 10 staions.
EQ:- gives you 6 equalisation settings.
Menu:- to change the station order, manual tuning and other technical info.
You also get a set of earphones with a DAB ariel built in, a set of 3 Duracell batteries and an instruction book.
So far have mainly listened to LBC and Galaxy. I am somewhat disappointed with DAB. My favourite Radio station is LBC. On DAB though is 64k Mono, but Stereo on FM.
Where it does improve over FM the fact you don’t have to Tune around and you get the info display. This can include track info (artist, track or album), radio station info (phone number, SMS number, email or web address), or in LBC’s case presenter (with contact info).
I have mainly used this to and from work, and a bit while getting lunch. Batteries have lasted for this use over a week, although on last day was getting half battery icon, so not sure how much more use I will get out.
